While waiting for my turn at the doctor’s office, i brought with me iya’s workbook so she won’t get bored. I was telling her the instructions when she suddenly asked why she had to do that particular activity. And i answered it’s coz that’s what the book said. To which she replied with a question mark on her face:
“mama… the book cannot talk!>…” 
I saw this clip from chuvaness’ blog and I have to admit that I got so touched I cried! Maybe because i’m a mother too and I can’t imagine being away from my daughter…
I watched the above clip with iya. It’s a show called Britain’s Got Talent. When the camera focused on Simon, iya suddenly blurted out with glee:
“it’s american idol! i love american idol!!” lol!!
Kasi nga naman Simon = american idol. hehehe..
We weren’t able to celebrate my little girl’s birthday on the 15th itself since hubby and the rest of our friends were really swamped with work. But we did finally had a small get together the ff night at Odette’s apartment.

Four years ago today, I became a mother. Our Little princess was born 4:54am at St. Luke’s medical center. And we gave her the name Frances Sofia. Frances is latin for the word free and Sofia means wisdom. I chose the spelling Sofia versus Sophia. Since Sophia was common already and you pronounce it with an f sound anyway 
I didn’t like Sophie/Sofi for a nickname coz some pronounce it as “soapy”. lol! so we just settled for iya.
She was the 1st grandchild on both sides so everyone was excited! It wasn’t until a week later that we got to bring her home but it was worth the wait. I went to the nursery everyday after I got discharged to breast feed her.
After that, time really did fly! She’s quite tall for her age especially when she was younger. When we 1st arrived here nobody believed when I told them that my daughter was only 2 1/2 yrs old. A lot of people asked since she stood out, being asian and cute at that! hehehe…
And today she is four! It’s funny coz she’s more excited about turning 5! When we told her she’s turning 4 already she said “and then next time i will turn 5, and I can skate!!” Hubby and I laughed ‘coz she remembered that she can only skate when she’s 5. We brought her before to SM MOA and she got so mesmerized watching kids skate. She told us she wanted to skate! But when we inquired we were told that they only allow kids 5 and up. And so we told her she has to wait until she’s 5.
Our only wish is for her to grow up healthy and happy. She has brought tremendous joy to our family and to people around her. And i’m hoping she’ll be a good Ate

Iya got an early present today.
This morning kasi her Tito Ruben called, eh pinabayaan ko lang sila mag usap… then when we were having lunch…
Sofia: mama, can you call a taxi?
Me: (bewildered) why?
Sofia: so i can go to tito ruben’s house
Me: no baby, tito ruben said he will go here later
aba eh biglang nag smile ng napakaganda sabay sabi:
“mama, tito ruben will bring my present???”
nalito naman ako… sabay ym kay ruben kung may sinabi ba sya kay iya at naku if he was joking eh iya would be so disappointed kasi pag may sinabi ka sa kanya she’ll remember that! and so a few minutes later, hubby and ruben arrived and when Iya opened the door, Ruben indeed had a gift for her. Ay she dashed sa sofa and opened it really quick. The funny thing was the wrapper was huge, natabunan na yung gift nung wrapper! nalito pa sya san napunta yung laman! lol!! She was so happy when she saw it was a Heffalump stuffed toy It’s bigger than the one she already has so it’s perfect! Now, her heffalump has a mama heffalump just like in the story/movie.

Went to Horev Medical Center yesterday to have lab tests done. It’s a good thing I decided to ask first how much the tests cost. We don’t have insurance here. ( I don’t know why hubby’s company didn’t bother to get insurance locally) So anyway my doctor here wanted 11 tests. And imagine my horror when the cashier/receptionist told me that it will cost 2,590 shekels or 29,942.15 pesoses!!!! Ay nanlambot ang tuhod ko!! Imagine, back home someone could’ve given birth with 30k! It is SOOOO expensive here in Israel especially if you don’t have an insurance! I wanted to back out already. I’m going home next month anyway so I can have the tests done there where it is sooo much cheaper. But baby comes first, so we decided to do the 1st 6 tests. (those w/c i deemed were important hehe) We still paid close to 1,000 shekels.
Anyway, a funny thing happened. I went inside the room where they would draw my blood. When the lab technician started to prep me, I suddenly heard Iya say:
“mama, are you okay? don’t worry it’s just a litte ouch”
The keyhole of the door was pretty big so Iya could see through. I didn’t know she was still outside the door. The people in the lab all heard her since she said it pretty loud and were all smiling and saying how sweet my daughter was.
I thought i’d leave Israel without ever setting foot in Bethlehem. I was supposed to go with some friends last Sept and I was really very excited about that trip. Unfortunately I was so sick that day. Good thing our friend Daniel invited us to go last weekend. (It was his 3rd or 4th trip to Bethlehem already I think) Read the rest of this entry »
I need to think of a new blog name…coz Sofia and I isn’t too apt anymore since there’s another baby coming soon! I thought of some but then when i surfed I found out they were already taken. I don’t wanna be accused of copying anyone! suggestions are very welcome!
It’s April! and 2 weeks from now my little girl will turn 4! Imagine we arrived in Israel when she was just 2 1/2. And now she’s turning 4!
~ She has learned to understand and talk a bit of hebrew (especially last year when i was still taking lessons)
~ can count in four languages (english,tagalog,hebrew and spanish)
~ she can “tie her shoelace like the letter X”
~ change clothes on her own
~ knows how to fold clothes
~ brush her teeth (i still assist her though to make sure everything’s okay)
~ run very fast!
~ loves to sing and dance
~ can fix her things
~ write her name and the word papa (she has refused to learn to write other words..for now) she knows how to write letters A-Z but only when she feels like writing them down.
~ she is very very curious. about a lot of things! never ending what’s, why’s, how’s…
~ manages to make me really angry and then happy at the same time!
